The Scottish Arthroplasty Project

Scottish Joint Registry (SJR)

Discussions are currently under way to investigate the possibility of a Scottish joint registry, with the aims of improving clinical care for hip and knee joint replacement patients through the identification and sharing of best orthopaedic practice in hospitals, increasing awareness of the long-term clinical outcomes of patients receiving hip or knee replacement determining which are the best performing implants and identifying any implant which is less successful over the longer term.

A similar scheme is already in operation in England and Wales. (http://www.hqip.org.uk/national-joint-registry-njr)
